Dear Member

We’re sure the news has broken that you have achieved what lots of people thought impossible.

We met with Dundee City Council on Wednesday where they confirmed that no one will be forced into working split shifts and you will all keep your contracted hours of work if you wish.

For those of you who accepted either split shifts or a reduction in hours because you believed you had no choice, you will now be able to change your mind and remain on your contracted hours. Let us know if you need any help with that.

If anyone wishes to accept split shifts because it fits with your lifestyle and personal circumstances then of course that option is available for you.  Please consider this carefully.

This is a victory. We will now work in good faith with the employer to help to improve your working conditions and we’re always on the look out for workers to become involved. Let us know if you’re interested.

You have led the way and it’s been an absolute privilege to stand shoulder to shoulder with you. You should all be super proud of your achievement. Especially those of you who came to meetings, told your stories, visited Councillors and wrote to them.

If you’ve not already voted please Vote YES YES and pop your ballot paper in the post today to allow the ballot process to continue. Please also vote in the Terms and Conditions consultative ballot because that is the next fight that we’re sure you’ll all be at the forefront of with the entire workforce at your sides.

What you have shown is that by taking charge, working together and never giving up, we can win.

Your campaign has won the hearts and minds of this city and its people. Let’s keep moving forward together.
