Self Isolation

Dear member,
Scottish government guidelines have changed, so the COSLA guidance has been updated.
COSLA has recently issued new information to your employer around self-isolation exemption. Please see link to the recent circulars issued to your employer by COSLA – https://bit.ly/33ohiBf / https://bit.ly/3pZAyNd .
I want to outline GMB Scotland’s position on this. Individual members of staff would need to volunteer to do this, it should not be mandatory. If you hear that your council workplace is looking for exemptions make sure that you inform your workplace reps or other branch officials in the first instance.

You should also ask for a copy of the business case from your line manager that must have been completed to request an exemption.  At this time, we are not sure how these exemption guidelines might be used by your employer, so we want to ensure that you know your unions position prior to any proposed changes to your workplace.

If your colleagues aren’t in GMB, encourage them to join you in the campaigning union here: https://www.gmb.org.uk/join-gmb
