GMB@LACD

Dear Member,
It’s been a while since our last communication we hope everyone is safe and well at this time.
GMB Scotland has been made aware that some staff members may have been underpaid this month.  You should contact the Employment Support Section in the first instance to ensure that you have not been subjected to any unlawful deductions of wages at this time.
Some of you may have been asked to complete an online training module for cleaning.  Please note that this has not been agreed with your union.
We are concerned that the lowest paid within LACD will be left to carry the heavy burden of cleaning once facilities begin to reopen without any form of pay recognition.  Your health and safety is paramount.
LACD has clear guidance for home working this should only be undertaken if you have the correct IT equipment and a dedicated risk assessed workspace.  For those of you currently on furlough you will also have to agree to participate within any online training.
Clearly more investment in front line services is required prior to any of our members returning to their workplace.  LACD has continued to operate for many years with a heavy reliance on casual zero hours contracts.
This is unsustainable and is grossly unfair we will continue to call for more investment in good, permanent and stable employment for our members to ensure the viability of the organisation continues into the future.
If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact our Dundee Office for more information via dundee@gmb.org.uk
