Stephen Massey and myself met with management yesterday (22nd August) in a further managing workforce change meeting along with the other Unions.
We are acutely aware that the council faces unprecedented cuts however as we’ve said before, these are political choices made by your local councillors and we do not accept that it has to be inevitable. Neither should you.
There are still no formal proposals in place; however, we are willing to work with management to come up with measures which will properly support our members if any of you find yourselves in a redeployment situation.
We would never agree with compulsory redundancies or cuts to terms and conditions, to pay for the cuts to the budgets. You’ve all paid the price of austerity as it is.
We will always consult you over any proposals and GMB members will get a say.
