GMB@Tayside Contracts – JCNF Update

JCNF 11 December 2018

Martin Will, Malcolm McFie and Helen Meldrum attended the most recent Joint Consultative Negotiating Forum on the Tuesday 11th December with Tayside Contracts management.  It was the first of such a meeting for a year.

We have agreed that there will be joint training with managers and reps to ensure issues raised by members are dealt with appropriately and in good time.

We have also agreed that meetings will be set up regularly throughout the year.

Tayside Contracts have advised us that that they intend to put out regular communications to staff.  There is a commitment that this will not undermine collective bargaining, and GMB will continue to keep you informed about what is happening with your work.

Facilities Management

Central Production Unit

Tayside Contracts have stated that they believe producing a central production unit for meals will provide opportunity for growth in the future.  Councils are yet to discuss these proposals and this will happen early in the New Year.  Our main concern of course, is what this means for jobs, and the quality of meals that will be delivered.  Tayside Contracts have advised that they do not envisage any employee suffering detriment.

We will keep you informed about any future developments, and will consult with you to allow you to have say.

Construction

Pre-Start Checks & Travel Time

We know that this has been an ongoing issue for members in Construction.  The joint trade unions will produce a paper for the next JCNF which will happen early next year.  If any members have views on this then please get in touch with your local reps in the first instance.

Re-grading Claims

We were assured by Tayside Contracts that any regrading claims will be dealt with appropriately and timeously.  If anyone has any issues around their grade or re-grading, then please contact your local reps in the first instance.

If there are any issues that you would like to be raised on your behalf at either the facilities management or construction joint meetings, then please do let us know.  The JCNF is to discuss wider issues relating to the entire workforce.

If anyone is interested in becoming a rep, then please call the Dundee office on 01382 225491.  We are particularly keen to encourage members from under-represented groups.  Full training and support is provided.
