A step in the right Direction!
GMB has taken the lead in discussions with DCC and LACD Management about the position of Casual Workers during this national crisis.
GMB has always been the main champion for casual or zero hours workers within Leisure and Culture Dundee.  Calling out the injustice and discrimination many of our members have faced over recent years in comparison to their contracted counter parts including that of less favourable contract changes.
LACD members are key to helping keep front line services operational whilst providing logistical support to Dundee City Council at this time.  GMB Scotland’s main priority is to protect the position of casual workers as well as core staff on an equal footing.
The Scottish Government has today released new guidance to employers that all public sector workers should be treated fairly with no reduction in pay during this time.
We would urge our members to complete the DCC survey which will help with work force planning moving forward to ensure that key services remain open.  If you have not yet been sent this link please contact your line manager for further information.
If your are selected to carried out alternative duties during this time GMB has secured agreement with DCC that you will be paid any additional payments in line with current terms and conditions agreements.
