GMB@HOMECARE

Today, DCC have provided us with new proposals for changes to the homecare shifts in the city.  We will allow you, the members to make up your own minds about these proposals, however we would never recommend any deal which would result in future loss of earnings, or any way of working which may cause detriment for our members.

We will consult with you as soon as possible, however in the meantime we have attached the proposals for you to read over (we understand DCC will have already provided these to you).

HEADLINES:

  • There are no options to retain a 30 hour contract.
  • An offer of £1000 is being offered as a buy out with reduced income for the following 3 years.
  • Either a 23 hour contract with no split shifts or a 25 hour split shift contract is what’s on offer.
  • Pension protection for up to 10 years is being offered.

We want you, the members to decide what you would like to do.

The council will probably look to present this to the Policy and Resources Committee on 19th November.

If you have not received an email or text message, then please contact the office on 01382 225491 to make sure we can keep you up to date with the latest on local and national issues.

If your colleagues haven’t received this and they are not in a union, then please let them see this and encourage them to join a union.  Only union members will get a say.  GMB is by far the largest majority in Dundee City Council Homecare.

If you would like to become involved in your union, then please call the number above for more details.  We would particularly welcome members from under-represented groups.
