FAO: GMB Dundee City Council & Leisure and Culture Dundee Members
30th March 2022
Thank you for completing our Cost-of-Living questionnaire. We’ve had an incredible response.
22% of you have advised us that your pay is wrong regularly. This isn’t good enough. Can we please encourage you to speak to your local rep to discuss these issues to see if this is can be resolved? If you are already on low pay, then wrong wages from month to month will seriously affect your ability to heat your home and feed you and your families.
Almost all of you, 98%, are worried about rising energy prices.
86% of you have told us that the cost of living has or is having a negative impact on your mental health. It’s vitally important that you can access mental health support services and we will explore this with Dundee City Council and LACD.
One third of you want a pay increase at least in line with RPI. 52% want an increase higher than RPI.
Employers will only listen if a large majority of you vote in every ballot and are prepared to take action.
YOU are the Union and you have power.
84% of you do not feel valued by your employer which is something that we may try to explore further with you in the coming weeks and months.
We will be raising these issues with your employer, however where there are specific matters please do get in touch with your rep or contact GMB Dundee office on 01382 225491.
