JOINT STATEMENT FROM YOUR TRADE UNIONS IN DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL
We are aware that some misinformation is being sent to you regularly by your Chief Executive, David Martin, and we feel the need to respond to it with facts, and jointly to ensure all our members receive a consistent message from your Unions.
Whilst we have been in talks, the council are still refusing to remove the managing workforce change policy which means 3 things for every single worker in Dundee City Council and Leisure and Culture Dundee.
You can be made redundant.
Your flexible retirement will be capped at 2 years.
You will only receive protected pay for 12 months if you are downgraded through no fault of your own.
We have consistently asked for this to be removed as the threat to allow us to enter into discussions on an even keel.
They have said they will talk to us, and will consider retrospectively changing the policy if we agree to something else. This means we will need to agree to something they want in order to reverse the policies that have been imposed.
David Martin, who this year will earn £153,000.00, has stated Dundee City Council expect a £15 – £20 Million cut to their budget for next year. He will look to make savings directly from job cuts, downgrading and harmonising all other terms and conditions.
