Equal Pay- What’s It All About?
Our campaign for pay justice across Dundee City Council, Tayside Contracts and Leisure and Culture Dundee is building. Lots of you have lodged claims already.
As your Union, we find it unbelievable to be launching an equal pay campaign in 2021 but the reality is that in Dundee City Council, a group of workers are being paid significantly more than you, sometimes up to an additional 50% of their salary just for showing up. This extra pay is not available to workers in female dominated sectors, or anyone else. It sounds unbelievable, but it’s true.
Our campaign is for pay justice. We want to end the discriminatory pay system by bringing all workers up. We want the Council to really look at your pay and the work you do and start paying you what you are worth.
If you haven’t yet lodged your claim, we urge you to do it now – it is very easy to do. Every person that joins the campaign, strengthens the fight.
If you are a member of GMB and work for any of the above employers and haven’t lodged your claim please click on the following link and do it right now: GMB Members Equal Pay Claim Form
If you are not a member of GMB, you can join today via the following link and once your membership is processed your can then lodge your claim: Join GMB
We don’t want this to sit in court for years, we want the Council to start negotiating with us now. The best chance of getting them to do that is to show them how many of you are angry and have joined the campaign for pay justice.
Join the claim today and then please share with your colleagues to ensure that they don’t miss out. GMB Scotland is the only union taking on the fight for equal pay against Dundee City Council, Tayside Contracts and Leisure and Culture Dundee. The more members in a single union, the stronger we all are
